Fifth Street Project
The St. Anne's Hill Historic Society is implementing a new Fifth Street Corridor Improvement Project in the St. Anne's Hill historic district. The project was started in celebration of their 35th Anniversary since the district was founded in 1974.

Phase I: Street Banners
St. Anne's Hill banners were officially unveiled for the neighborhood in October, 2009. They are located along Fifth Street. The six new banners were funded by a grant from the City of Dayton, with additional banners purchased by the Historic Society. They will help identify and promote the neighborhood.

Phase II: Mosiac Wall Project
The project resulted in the repair of an existing brick wall gateway art feature and new mosaic panels at the Dayton Liederkranz-Turner Building located at 1400 E. Fifth Street. The murals consist of 450 square feet of new public art depicting Dayton's German hertiage along the historic Fifth Street corridor to the neighborhood.
The project begin in 2009 and the panels were dedicated on September 22, 2010. The mosaic project is the result of a partnership between the K12 Gallery for Young People and the St. Anne's Hill Historic Society. There is also a plan to erect similar walls at the Terry Street Park and install the mosaic panels, if funding becomes available.

Leading the project team are Jerri Stanard and Elissa DeBarone of the K12 Gallery and Leah Turnbull from the St. Anne's Hill Historic Society.
Jessica Macmillan, lead artist, worked with the Artist in Training students from K12 Gallery's after school program. The project is funded by a $15,000 grant from MetLife. Additional mosaic walls and other street improvements are planned, if further funding can be identified. The St. Anne's Hill Historic Society can accept tax-deductible donations to help complete the project.

Phase III: Public Art
On June 25, 2011 neighbors and friends gathered on Fifth Street to dedicate a new work of public art. The sculpture was created by Hamilton "Ham" Dixon in partnership with teens from the K12 Gallery For Young People. The new artwork will help enhance Fifth Street, and also draw attention to the renovations at the former American Saloon.
